Opening its doors on Saturday 22nd October from 12 midday ’til late (normally open from 9am on a Saturday), The Clarence Social is a project which has been conceived by Steve Jones and Terry Croft, Cheltonians who have a number of business interests in the town. The vision of creating a social venue for eating and drinking by day and late into the night is now a reality after an 18 month project .
“We chose to work with Shoreditch based Finch Design to bring our vision into being and after much hard work and creative thought its now here . Finch won Best Bar in the UK at last month’s Bar & Restaurant design awards , hopefully you will see why when you see our spaces “ said Steve Jones, joint owner.
The upper 2 floors are called ‘The Clarence Social’, which comprise a restaurant on a Mezzanine level which morphs into a relaxing lounge bar with table service as the night progresses , guests won’t be hurried as only one reservation is taken per table per service. The ground floor is a comfortable informal space for coffees, brunch and lunch by day and a bar with casual food by night.
In the basement is something special and new to Cheltenham, Croft & Jones Trading Co; “a secret drinking den in the heart of Cheltenham – creative cocktails, fine liquor, wines, beers and ciders consumed away from prying eyes.” The Cotswolds first speakeasy that people will have to discover!
Book a table for brunch, lunch or dinner. No reservations required for the bar areas although reservations are taken for Croft & Jones Trading Co, if you’re seated before 7pm.
